Walking tours
The Nameless Collective have been offering walking tours around the Lower Mainland. Here's a list of some of the regions and partners we've worked with.
Kitsilano
The first South Asian neighbourhood in Vancouver was an intercultural space and was home to the Khalsa Diwan Society 2nd Avenue Gurdwara, the first purpose-built Gurdwara in North America. The spiritual, political, and social hub for the South Asian community was home to revolutionary activity, civil rights campaigns, and community celebration for over six decades.

punjabi market
When the Khalsa Diwan Society moved from 2nd Avenue to Ross Street in 1969, the first South Asian store on Main Street opened soon after. The Punjabi Market became a must-visit destination for South Asian families across the entire West Coast of North America. Beyond a commercial space, the Punjabi Market has been a place for social, political, and spiritual gathering, hosting countless events including the iconic annual Vancouver Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan.

downtown vancouver
The mobilizing South Asian community in the early 20th century was a visual presence in the downtown core of the city as the campaigned and advocated for the rights of themselves and their families, especially during the events of the Komagata Maru. Today, downtown Vancouver is the site of a few monuments and dedications to the passengers of the Komagata Maru.

New Westminster
New Westminster has been called home by South Asians since as long as we've been coming to Canada. The Khalsa Diwan Society in New Westminster has been operating since 1913, and the events surrounding Mewa Singh's execution all took place in the city as well. Stretching back over a century, the South Asian community's presence in New Westminster has been humble and often overlooked, but the city has played host to a number of important occurrences in local South Asian history.
